Portland’s Grand Floral Parade

I decided that for my first post on this year’s Grand Floral Parade, I would pick my favorites – favorite float, favorite marching band and so forth. Then I started going through all of the pictures I had taken and decided that in many cases it was just not possible.

I could not decide on a favorite and instead just picked a number of things that I liked most about the parade this year, independent of who or what they were. In many cases that came down to how colorful they were – and there most certainly was a lot of color in this year’s parade. For those of you who watched it on TV, I don’t know if the vividness of some of it came through, but I thought it was spectacular and I am pleased that I got up early and went.

I want to give a special shout out to the bravest guy in the parade. You can just see him in this picture. He was the only guy in a troupe of flag wavers (I am sure they have a special name for them) that were all girls. Too bad they hadn’t figured out a costume for him.

Hi Debbie – your wish is my command. Here is a post with your Marching Band. I would always be happy to come and do a shoot for you guys under more controlled circumstances.
